Chemistry and Life Science
Development of next-generation battery materials
Rechargeable batteries, which can be charged and discharged, have attracted much attention in recent years and have been actively studied. Organic substances are promising candidates for high-performance electrode materials for batteries, versatile in molecular design, and expected to have many advantages such as reducing environmental burdens, high safety, and abundant resources. We have been researching to design and synthesize organic compounds that exhibit metal-like redox properties and apply them to rechargeable battery materials that can be repeatedly charged and discharged. The use of organic materials is expected to be useful in various applications in the future, such as vehicle installation, household use, and energy storage for distributed power generation. |

We develop valuable materials for society with our knowledge and technology in chemistry.
Our goal is to develop human resources to solve social issues by comprehensively utilizing chemistry and life sciences knowledge and skills. In addition, we aim to develop human resources who understand the role of chemistry in society and appropriately use cutting-edge science and technology through multifaceted judgment from a global perspective.
In this course, you will learn knowledge in chemistry and experimental/research methods and will be temporarily assigned to a laboratory from the latter half of the third grade. In graduation research, you will acquire skills to tackle various issues by conducting cutting-edge research. In addition, part of our education and research collaborates with the Proteo Science Center.
Another feature of this course is that students can obtain a grade 1 teacher’s license for high school science.
We train students to acquire the basics of chemistry, apply their knowledge, and resolve various issues.
